13th March, 2007  - Cambridge can now benefit from much improved communications due to an extension to the fibre network, supplied by data communications giant Redstone.
 
Designed and installed by Redstone Managed Solutions, the huge underground Ethernet fibre ring creates an extension to their existing Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) that serves the entire City. This new provision provides more resource to the existing dedicated network that brings consistent broadband Internet access and other unique on-line services that are vital in today’s marketplace.
 
At an additional length of 19 kilometers, the extension creates a total network length of some 45 kilometers that completely surrounds Cambridge.  Totally dedicated to servicing business throughout the city, the network provides ease of access to the highly reliable attributes that fibre brings.  Benefits such as high speed Internet access, the ability to connect multiple buildings, plus value-added services that can be tailored to exact needs.
